Conditions

 

Ely Soham Dial-a- Ride operates vehicles that are licensed under Section 19 permit within the 1985 Transport Act. Only registered members of the organisation can use the service.

 

CONDITIONS OF MEMBERSHIP

 

  1. Membership is open to residents of East Cambridgeshire who do not have access to a car during the day and who can say YES to at least one of the following :

·         There is no public transport available

·         Although public transport is available, it does not run at times suitable for you

·         You have difficulty using public transport due to disability or frailty

 

  1. Bookings for Dial-a-Ride can be made at any time but not later than 48 hours before the date of travel. Bookings for excursions are on a first come first served basis.

 

  1. Members who persistently cancel bookings or fail to travel when the vehicle arrives to collect them will be charged for the booked journey.

 

  1. The starting time advised for any journey cannot be guaranteed and may be later than scheduled.

 

  1. Ely Soham Dial-a-Ride cannot be responsible for any service failing to operate due to vehicle breakdown, weather or other circumstances beyond its control

 

  1. Only guide dogs and listening dogs may be carried on the vehicle.

 

  1. Smoking is not permitted on the vehicle.

 

  1. All passengers are required to wear seatbelts.

 

  1. A Carer, travelling with a member, does not have to be a registered member.

 

  1. Users of electric scooters must transfer to a seat in the vehicle. The maximum length is 48”.

 

  1. For safety reasons, gangways and exits must be kept clear at all times and luggage restrictions will  be applied as necessary.

 

  1. Children under 18 will travel at a reduced rate BUT children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult.

 

  1. Three classes of membership are available.  Single, family or temporary membership for family or friends wishing to travel on odd occasions.

 

  1. The driver is responsible for the safety of the vehicle and its passengers and may refuse to carry anyone who refuses to abide by these conditions.

 

  1. Cancellation on the day of travel will be charged at half fare. No charge if 24 hours notice is given.
